David began his instrumental studies on the trumpet in Kenosha, WI. After graduating from high school he decided to dedicate his life to the study of music and received his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from Millikin University. David continued his education by earning his Master of Music degree in Orchestral Performance from the University of North Texas.
While at the University of North Texas he performed with such notable groups as the University of North Texas Wind Symphony, the Two O’Clock Lab Band and the internationally recognized One O’Clock Lab Band, in which he held the lead trumpet chair for three years.
While pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at UNT, David was a teaching fellow for the Jazz Studies Program. He is a former director of the 8, 7, 5 and 4 O’Clock Lab Bands.
David has had an extensive performance career on the trumpet. He has had the privilege to perform with such artists as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Christian Lindberg and Slide Hampton. He has also played in several of the local symphony orchestras in the DFW metroplex.
Along with being an avid performer he is also an experienced educator. Since the early 1990′s David has had a successful private studio, teaching well over 300 students. Many of his students have been Texas All-State members and several have gone on to earn their music degrees from colleges around the country.
David and his wife Elizabeth are proud parents of two beautiful and well behaved children (most of the time) and have been residing in the DFW area for nearly 20 years.
